ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.  Importance of the Voter Identification Project Explained

We have approximately 60,000 registered voters inSkagitCountybut only 30,000 voters are identified as Democrats, Republicans, or Independents.

The remaining 30,000 registered voters who are NOT identified as Democrat, Republican or Independents are rarely if ever called during a get-out-the-vote campaign.

The Voter ID project attempts to identify those registered voters. Voter ID is the single most effective way to help a candidate contact the right voter. Voter ID is the first step in building Party support at the grass roots level.

If we can identify voter preference, future campaigns and candidates will reach more Democrats when calling to get-out-the-vote. This will make a big difference in voter turnout for our Democratic candidates.

If you are interested in contacting registered voters whose party preference is unknown, get in touch with the Janet McKinney by either emailing at staff@skagitdemocrats.org or phoning at 336-1555.

Thanks,

Janet McKinney, State Committee Woman

5.  Former 10 LD State Representative Candidate, Eleanor Walters, Seeks FaceBook Friends

No matter how far away you are from friends and family, Facebook can help you stay connected.  Staying connected with this great candidate will be important in future elections.

Thought for the Week:

Why are YOU a Democrat? For most of us this is a simple question, but do you ever take the time to run through the whole list of reasons? Is it because you believe in protecting the environment? Social and economic justice? Peace? Grassroots democracy? Creating a better education system for our children? Whatever your reasons, I will guarantee you something: You have friends and neighbors who share your values. Think about it. Every time you have a conversation with one of your neighbors about an issue that you share progressive views on, you are essentially talking about Democratic politics. And whether they realize it or not, these friends and neighbors who want to invest in their community to create a better world for themselves and their children are one of us – they are Democrats.
