1. NEWIn Remembrance
It has now been 2 years this month since Nikki Hamilton passed away from COVID-19. Nikki was the first casualty in Skagit County, March 21, 2020. Nikki’s sister, Janet, was interviewed by ABC News and they produced this article. This disease and its many variants continue to disrupt and take lives. Stay cautious!

2. NEWThe next Skagit County Democrats Executive Board meets Saturday, Apr 9, 10:00am – 12:00pm, via Zoom
Further information will follow.

3. Gala News!
We are pleased to inform you that we plan to have our annual Gala in person this year on Saturday, Jun 4 at the Swinomish Casino. This event is our most important annual fund raiser. The money we raise helps our local candidates, pays the office rent and supports our ongoing work. Please mark your calendars!!

As we have done in the past, we appeal to you to help us with Silent and Live Auction donations. These items, provide a significant amount of revenue. In addition to silent auction items, you also have been very generous in providing us with Live Auction valuables like Vacation Weeks, Event Tickets, Boat Trips and the like. We totally appreciate these and count on the revenue they generate. We will gladly accept your items.

We need to collect all donation items no later than Friday, May 20. Items may be brought to our Headquarters Office, 2021 East College Way, Suite 104. You can also call 360-336-1555 and we can arrange to pick them up. Feel free to email any questions to staff@skagitdemocrats.org.
 
4. Skagit County Democrats will continue to mandate facemasks at our Headquarters Office
While the Statewide mask mandate has been lifted for many situations, we will continue to require facemasks at our Headquarters until further notice.

2. NEWThe Skagit Valley Tulip Festival starts Friday, Apr 1 and runs through Saturday, Apr 30

3. No More Bombs will be protesting using our “NO NUKES” banner on the Blackburn I-5 overpass in South Mount Vernon Friday, Apr 1, 3:00pm
“Park along Blackburn Road. Bring a sign or simply wave at motorists. . . If there is too much rain or wind we will cancel.”

4. The monthly Planned Parenthood rally is Saturday, Apr 2, 11:00am – 12:00pm, on the sidewalk in front of the Mount Vernon Health Center, 1805 East Division Street, Mount Vernon
Bring your signs, your friends, your family, and your masks.

Local COVID-19 Case, Hospital & Vaccine Data

Skagit County’s 7-day case rate has decreased by 32 percent since last week; our 7-day hospitalization rate did not change. Sadly, 6 new COVID-related deaths were reported.

This week, Skagit County—and many other parts of our state—moved to the “Moderate” disease transmission level.

Food and Other Support Available to People with COVID-19

Care Connect Washington continues to offer food, personal care kits, and financial assistance to people who need to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19. People who need help should call the COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-800-525-0127, then press #. Language assistance is available. The hotline hours are 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, Monday, and 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Sunday and observed state holidays.

Vaccine at the Public Health Office

REMINDER: Public Health will be hosting a free vaccination clinic this Saturday, March 26th from 9am-1pm! No appointment required, though folks can register for a specific time by going to https://bit.ly/36oLzkN. All doses available for those 5 years and older. Please enter through the 1st floor elevator entrance.

COVID-19 prime, pediatric, and booster vaccinations are available at the Public Health office in downtown Mount Vernon at 700 S 2nd Street. The clinic is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

COVID-19 Testing Site at Cascade Mall

Our new COVID-19 testing site is now open at Cascade Mall, located at 150 Cascade Mall Drive in Burlington. Please come to the east side of the mall parking lot near the old Johnny Carino’s restaurant. Free antigen testing services are available on Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At-home COVID-19 Testing

Free at-home test kits can now be ordered online through the following sites: If testing at home and you receive a positive test result, please call the state’s COVID-19 Hotline at 1–800–525–0127 or the Skagit County Public Health office at (360) 416-1500.
